Healthy teeth, Perfect teeth and Straight teeth
Everyone wants healthy teeth these days, and not just for
chewing food! All too often you see perfect
teeth on the TV or in magazines, and when you look in the mirror there’s
something to be desired. Straight teeth
that are healthy and white have become one of the big status symbols of our
times.
A drop-dead gorgeous smile could mean the difference between
a raise, a hot date, or even the service you get in a restaurant. That’s because people evaluate you based on
your teeth. Now, it’s not the only
criteria that people will judge you by, but it’s something that can stick out
like a sore thumb if something’s wrong.
The criteria for perfect teeth are mainly in how they look
in relation to each other. Straight
teeth should be equally spaced and symmetric from left to right. They should also line up with the teeth on
the opposite jaw. There’s no standard
size for teeth. The only key is that they should be proportionate to the rest
of your face and the size of your mouth.
Unfortunately there isn’t anything that can be done for small teeth,
while big teeth can only be reduced in size in small amounts.
Aside from symmetry, the positioning of the teeth is equally
as important. They should be vertical,
with no protrusions or angular teeth.
The tooth-line should be smooth and semi-circular. For the most part, it’s only the front teeth
that make the biggest impact on your appearance. Still, your molars are quite important for chewing and are also
visible when you laugh or open your mouth.
The color of your teeth is also important. Lately there has been a tooth-whitening
craze that’s resulted in a whole gamut of crazy products. Tapes, brush-on liquids, tooth trays, and
toothpastes all promise to take years of stain off your teeth. The problem with these products is that they
don’t necessarily make your teeth look better.
There’s such a thing as teeth looking too white. Like a breast implant, it can be an obvious
thing that makes you look fake.
Healthy gums are another factor towards a perfect
smile. Ideally the gums should be pink,
while red gums and black gums are the result of poor hygiene.
To achieve perfect teeth it’s important to follow a strict
oral hygiene schedule. Regular
brushing, flossing, and dental cleaning should be pursued. Things like smoking and drinking coffee can
lead to infected gums and stained teeth.
Consult your dentist today about ways to achieve and
maintain healthy teeth. Your smile is
important to your daily life. You
shouldn’t be ashamed to use it!
