Knoxville Dental Implants

As we get older, a greater effort is required in the maintenance of our appearance.  While we may force ourselves to keep those fat away with vigorous exercise and a health-conscious diet, many of us forget that our teeth and smile is an important, and easy-to-address component of our image.  Our teeth are prone to deterioration after many, many years of use.  Teeth will get worn down, chipped/cracked, and eventually they will be a time when they go missing either due to physical injury or prolonged tooth decay and deterioration.  In regards to aesthetics and functionality, missing teeth are detrimental so teeth replacement is a necessary step to restoring function and appearance.

Dental implants are the most recommended choice in teeth replacement, more so than partial or full dentures, more so than dental bridges.  Just ask any dentist or any patient with any experience with teeth replacement.  Dental implants rates higher in comfort, function, and aesthetics compared to dental bridges and dentures.  Unlike dental bridges, dental implants do not require the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth to be shaved down in order for the bridge to fit.  Unlike dentures, dental implants provide superior comfort so you no longer have to deal with slippage or movement from the dentures.

Dental implants acts essentially as an artificial tooth root.  It’s comfort lie in its ability to fuse naturally with your jawbone when the implant is inserted into the bone.  Once firmly in placed and incorporated as part of the jawbone, a dental crown can then be attached to the top portion of the dental implant.  A porcelain dental crown can be selected if you want your replacement tooth to look as real as natural teeth.

Not limited to the replacing just individual teeth, dental implants are versatile as an innovative tool in replacing many teeth.  Used in conjunction with bridges and dentures (implant-supported), bridges and dentures will fit more securely and comfortably so that you minimize any discomfort and movement that is commonly associated with just bridges and dentures.  More and more seniors are turning towards dental implant-supported dentures for the greater comfort and restoration of normal dental functions.  They often are able to eat the foods they couldn’t when they were wearing only dentures!
