The Team

Dr. Ruth Gomes

Dr. Gomes has been practicing dentistry for more than 15 years. She received her degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree and an international degree in Orthodontics from Pontifica Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Dr. Gomes is a member of several prominent associations such as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), International Association for Orthodontics, International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics (IACA), and the American Dental Association (ADA).

As a life-long learner, in the field of dentistry, Dr. Gomes continues to undergo training to provide VivaSmiles patients with the latest pain-reduction techniques with proven, dramatic results. Her main areas of advanced training center on: implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and TMJ treatment.

As part of this continuing education, Dr. Gomes has compled her post-graduate Fellowship training in Advanced Cosmetic and Neuromuscular Dentistry at the world renowned Las Vegas Global Institute and is expected to soon receive the coveted LVI Master degree.

Consider yourself lucky if you have never experienced vertigo, because it is unbelievably debilitating. When I would lie flat, I would get a 36-hour dizzy-spell. During these dizzy-spells, I would spend a day and a half sitting upright without moving my head. My lifelong sport of swimming competition was out of the question and so was skiing. I was prescribed 2 medications, which provided only minimal relief. After treatment, my vertigo is gone, I am absolutely comfortable for the first time in my life, and my teeth are beautiful. In fact, I am swimming competitively again and skiing to my heart's delight! Thank you for helping me overcome this debilitating vertigo and allowing me to do the things I love to do.

The receptionist was very accommodating and punctual with appointment making. Dr. O'Brien was very accommodating and explained all procedures thoroughly and made me feel very comfortable.

I suffered a number of symptoms that I thought were just normal problems that everyone had. I had frequent lower back pain and stiffness in the neck and limited range of motion. I always attributed this to having lifted something wrong or to have overdone a sporting activity. I could never sit in more than one position for more than 10 minutes. My head assumed a tilted position and my posture was not good either?I always had a broad stance just to keep my balance. I would wake up to my arms being numb. Today my stance is normal, head posture is better, not a single stiff neck or lower-back discomfort, I stand upright, my shoulders are not rounded inwards, no arm numbness and all over I'm feeling better. I guess you don't really know you have a problem until the problem is taken away. Thank you for making a change in my life.
