Hyperemia is an increase in organ blood flow that occurs when organ or tissue
metabolic activity increases. Hyperemia of the teeth indicates increased blood
flow to pulp tissue (inflamed tissue) can cause dental sensitivity and may
lead to an abscess.
Hyperemia causing tooth sensitivity is a possible complication of dental implant
procedures. A dental implant involves putting a device into the jawbone which
will later be attached to a tooth replacement. This process is usually very
successful as the tooth replacement both looks and feels natural.
