What is Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening?
Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening is a procedure that is used to enhance the appearance of otherwise healthy teeth by lightening them to an aesthetically appealing shade of white.
How does Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening work?
This procedure uses a chemical gel to treat the surface of the teeth in order to modify the natural color. By staining the teeth to this lighter color, a successful cosmetic result can be achieved.
What are the advantages over similar treatments?
There are a number of teeth whitening procedures and kits that are available now. Many of these kits are available for use at home. One of the benefits of the Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening procedure is that it is performed by an experienced dental professional, so the risks of injury, negative reaction and incorrect application of the whitening gel are greatly diminished. This procedure can be completed in a single trip to the dentist's office and requires only about an hour of time. It is painless and easy to have done.
Who is a candidate for this procedure?
Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening is available for most people. Generally, however, dental professionals recommend that it be limited to people whose teeth have fully grown and developed. Children who have not yet grown their adult teeth are therefore typically barred from this procedure. It may not be appropriate to use the Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening procedure if you have certain preexisting dental conditions, caps, bridges or other dental implants.
How is Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening performed?
Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening is performed at a regular dentist's office by a dental professional. After the teeth are cleaned, a whitening gel is applied to the surface of the teeth. The gel is then targeted with an ultraviolet light that helps to activate the chemicals in it, which stain the teeth and provide the whitening effect. The light must be shone for about 20 minutes in order to be effective; most patients will spend this time reading or watching television. In order to ensure maximum results, the gel application and light processes are repeated two additional times.
What is the recovery like?
Generally, patients will leave the Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening procedure and return to their normal lives immediately. As with other teeth whitening procedures, it is recommended that patients avoid coffee, teas, and other foods and drinks which may stain the teeth in order to best preserve the benefits gained by the treatment.
What will the results be like?
On average, Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening will lighten a patient's teeth by approximately eight shades. This is more than the average success level of other methods of teeth whitening, including home whitening strips and toothpastes.
What are the risks?
When done by a dental professional, there are few if any risks to this procedure. It is safe for your gums, teeth and enamel. Consult with your dentist if you have any specific health issues that you are concerned about prior to undergoing Brite Smile® Teeth Whitening.
