I have small teeth, so my smile looks a bit gummy. The teeth are in good condition. Will veneers fix this?

Do I have to get gum contouring or will the veneers do the trick? my two front teeth and the ones either side have uneven gum lines, but my teeth are staright at the bottom.

It sounds like you would need a gum lift to get rid of the gummy smile. Now when it comes to Veneers you might not need them. It all depends on your teeth shape and size after the gum lift.

If you have a "gummy" smile, chances are a gum lift or recontour will give your teeth the proportionate look you are wanting. Depending on the results you want to achieve, additional treatment such as veneers, may be necessary.

Find an excellent cosmetic dentist who has thoroughly studied facial muscles, gum anatomy, occlusion (bite) along with cosmetic dentistry.
There are many ways to approach so-called "Gummy Smile" depending on your condition.
Botox of your lip may soften your "gummy-ness". You will need frequent touch-up.
I have also seen all facial muscles relaxing after full-mouth makeover when the patient's temple joints are moved back in the best position: The lip stopped "over-pulling" and stopped exposing too much gums.
Crown lengthening may be all you need if your teeth did not fully erupt, needing to be uncovered. Only gums may need removal, or both bone and gum need to be treated, depending on the anatomy of gum/bone tissue types that support your teeth. In order to avoid the "relapse" or regrowth of your removed gum, your dentist may take several measurements of your bone and gum level called "bone sounding".
Veneers may be a good option, but "making longer teeth" might not be appropriate depending on your bite. Veneers also may need replacement if they break, or your gum recedes or the veneer edge become stained over time.
Even though your teeth are straight, an ortho may be able to help your teeth come into better position.
