San Diego Adult Braces

In many ways, adults are often left out of the equation when people discuss the hardships of having braces.ᅠ This is understandable for two reasons.ᅠ Firstly, far fewer adults have braces than children, and secondly, it is often assumed that adults are mature enough to deal with just about anything, so why shouldn't they be able to deal with orthodontics?

Well, adults can't deal with everything, and having braces as an adult can be just as traumatic, if not more so than if you were young.ᅠ Nobody expects you to have braces so when they see that you have them they may think that something is up.

Generally adult males withy braces tend to feel dorky or geeky, or immature.ᅠ Men have enough problems as it is talking to women, it doesn't help if they have a childish mouth full of steel.

Women on the other hand tend to internalize their braces angst.ᅠ They feel unattractive and lose much of their confidence.ᅠ Women after all are supposed to be perfect and having braces is less than perfect.

But really it's nothing to worry about. People know your pain.ᅠ Most people have and braces and they know what you are going through.

So many people (both adults and children) have braces these days; it's becoming more common. Consider this:

ᅠᅠᅠ * Many adults wore braces as kids
ᅠᅠᅠ * Many adults have kids who are (or were) in braces
ᅠᅠᅠ * Many adults think about getting braces themselves

Plus, there are many superstars out there who have braces.ᅠ Like NBA semi-star and slam-dunk champion Vince Carter.ᅠ Plus, Gwen Stefani and a whole host of others.

You should be prepared for questions though.ᅠ Some people are going to be more sensitive than others.ᅠ That's just the way people are.ᅠ For those that are insensitive you should have some stock responses lined up, or at least the confidence just to blow them off.ᅠ It's really not that hard.

If they have bad teeth, you should just suggest to them that they get braces and point out a flaw with their teeth.ᅠ That should shut them up.ᅠ If they have perfect teeth just try and appeal to their compassionate side and say, something about how nice their teeth and how you just want to have teeth as beautiful as theirs.ᅠ It'll be hard for them to make a comment in the face of such a compliment.

If they still tease you then they are evil and they'll probably just end up in hell anyway.
