Dental Implants Before and After

Missing teeth not only take away from your appearance but also cause health problems such as inability to chew properly.ᅠ Sometimes missing teeth will also affect teeth around them and will affect the facial structure.ᅠᅠ This is why dental implants are probably a good idea to think about if you have any teeth missing.ᅠ The before and after feeling is simply incomparable.ᅠ If you ever come across pictures of dental implants before and after, you can see it for yourself ヨ a whole jaw can be affected by missing teeth.ᅠ Lots of people complain about being unable to fully enjoy life as they're afraid of smiling or even talking because of how they look without teeth.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.

So what happens after you decide to have a dental implant?

ᅠᅠᅠ * The dental implant will replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth.
ᅠᅠᅠ * Your dental implant (s) will support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture.
ᅠᅠᅠ * Additionally, your dental implant (s) will provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable.

There are two types of dental implants:

ᅠᅠᅠ * Endosteal whichᅠ is the most commonly used type of implant with different types of implant including screws, cylinders or blades surgically placed into the jawbone. Each type of implant holds one or more prosthetic teeth that are screwed in after the implant fuses with the bone. This type of implant is used as an alternative for patients with bridges or removable dentures.

ᅠᅠᅠ * Subperiosteal is placed on top of the jaw with the metal framework's posts protruding through the gum to hold the prosthesis. These types of implants are used for patients who are unable to wear conventional dentures and who don't have enough bone height.

After treatment, your dentist will work closely with you in order to develop the best care plan for you. Periodic follow-up visits will be scheduled to monitor your implant, teeth and gums to make sure they are functioning properly.
